Thông Báo Về Cuộc Triển Lãm Saigon Trải Nghiệm Tại Guam

Kính thưa qúi vị,

Chúng tôi hiện phối hợp cùng dàn nhạc Giao Hưởng Guam tổ chức một cuộc triển lãm mang tên Sài-Gòn Trải Nghiệm (Saigon, the Experience) tại viện bảo tàng từ 15 tháng 7 đến mùa Thu năm 2022.

Khởi đầu từ công tác nhân đạo vào tháng Tư năm 1975, cuộc triển lãm này sẽ dành một phần ngắn nói về lịch sử thành phố Sài Gòn; vai trò đảo Guam như một trạm ngắn trong chiến tranh VN, sau là nơi tạm dừng chân làm thủ tục hợp pháp hóa giấy tờ đưa người Vịêt tị nạn vô định cư ở nước Mỹ trong Chiến dịch Đời Sống Mới (Operation New Life).

Cuộc triển lãm gồm các phần trình bày được đóng khung: đoản văn, hồi ký, chiếu phim, hình ảnh, âm thanh hoà hợp theo khung cảnh, các chương trình cho người thưởng lãm…

Chúng tôi cũng đang tiến hành việc tiếp cận, phỏng vấn các nhân vật trong cuốn sách Quần Đảo Định Cư do tôi xuất bản trước đây. Ban tổ chức rất mong được qúi đồng bào từng đến Guam trong đợt tị nạn vào tháng 4/75 gửi tài liệu, hình ảnh, kỷ niệm, tác phẩm nghệ thuật… nếu qúi vị còn lưu giữ cho chúng tôi.

Qúi vị nào đồng ý tham dự trực tiếp vô ban tổ chức cuộc triển lãm, kể cả những vị tham dự với tư cách ẩn danh xin liên lạc thẳng với chúng tôi qua mạng: exhibit website để thảo luận thêm. (Nhớ nói rõ là exhibit website để biết thêm chi tiết. Hiện website chỉ có phần Anh ngữ. Chúng tôi đang tiến hành việc dịch sang phần Việt ngữ) Hạn chót gửi bài vở, tài liệu… là ngày 15 tháng 5/2022.

Rất mong được qúi vị Truyền Thông ra tay phổ biến tới cộng đồng Người Việt tại hải ngoại.

I am currently working with Guam Philharmonic to put together a museum exhibit entitled Saigon: The Experience. Saigon: The Experience is a humanities-based exhibit that will include a brief history of the Vietnamese city of Saigon, a synopsis of Guam’s participation during the Vietnam War, an explanation of Guam’s role in processing Vietnamese refugees during Operation New Life, and a segment featuring a few Vietnamese refugees that relocated to the United States and other parts of the world. It will be framed in several parts told through text, motion pictures, images, soundscapes, artifacts and public programming. The exhibit will run from mid-July to fall 2022 in Guam.

I am in the process of getting in touch with the people I interviewed for my book about the exhibit, but would appreciate your help spreading the word to your contacts. We are particularly looking to reach Vietnamese refugees who were processed in Guam during Operation New Life who would like to contribute to the exhibit (photographs, memorabilia, stories, art, etc.) or who would like to participate on one of the panels that we are organizing in conjunction with the exhibit. If contributors would like to remain anonymous, we can definitely accommodate that. Please refer folks to the exhibit website for more information regarding what we are looking for and how to get in touch. (The website is currently only in English but we are in the process of translating it into Vietnamese.) The deadline to submit materials is May 15.
